Curriculum Vitea -

  • Susan was born and raised in Canada. Her interest in photography began in the year

2000, and she began her photographic training at the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle.

She took many courses and workshops over the next four years, with influences by contemporary photographers such as

Mary Ellen Mark, Tim Rudman, Christopher James and Shelby Lee Adams. As her work evolved, she became interested in the Lith

process, a darkroom technique that she used and loved for the next 10 years. She studied Lith under the tutelage of Tim

Rudman, the master of the process. In time, her shooting and printing style gave her work a signature visual appearance

that has stayed with her until today. Sadly, however, with the increasing use of digital cameras, and therefore a

decline in the production of darkroom papers and chemistry necessary for Lith printing, Susan decided to close down her

darkroom for good, and move on in another direction - Intaglio Printmaking. Currently, she is creating her imagery using

polymer photogravure techniques.
